So commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these words of mine. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders...Deuteronomy 11:18
How it all started...
In 2023, an AAAC church member and elder felt prompted by God to challenge our church family to handwrite the entire Bible. The vision came from a desire to encourage deeper reliance on the Holy Spirit and to strengthen personal engagement with the Word of God. Scripture speaks of writing God’s Word on our hearts, and in ancient times, kings were instructed to handwrite the law for themselves—though none ever completed the task.
We also know that the act of handwriting helps us remember and absorb what we read. With that in mind, the idea was shared, prayed over, and—both with excitement and a bit of trepidation—presented to the church. The response was enthusiastic. What began as the dream of one church member quickly grew into a movement that ignited our entire congregation and extended into the community.

The Process.....
The theme of this project was “The Process is the Product.” While holding the completed Bible was thrilling, our greatest anticipation was seeing how the Holy Spirit would work in the lives of those who participated. As individuals handwrote Scripture, many shared powerful testimonies about what God was teaching them through this personal, intimate interaction with His Word.
Instead of striving for perfection or uniformity, we encouraged each person to engage in the way that drew them closest to God. The result is a Bible written in many colors, languages, and translations—each page uniquely reflecting the hands and hearts that created it. We also made space for the artists in our community to contribute through meaningful illustrations.
As the project unfolded, it expanded beyond our congregation. Friends, relatives, coworkers, neighbors, and others in the community were inspired and eager to join. What began in one church soon grew into a movement that reached far beyond our walls.

WAS The Product....
This project was truly a labor of love—six months in the making. It's estimated that 2100 cumulative hours were lovingly spent on the project by more than 200 people who offered their time, creativity, and faith to bring this vision to life. It features 985 pages, 10 different languages, over 200 illustrations, and 17 translations contributed by individuals of all ages—children, adults, and seniors alike. The finished book weighs more than 32 pounds! It currently is on display in the lobby of the Auburn Adventist Academy Church.
The final result is beautifully imperfect. We didn’t strive for flawless pages instead, we encouraged participants to simply cross out their errors and continue—because that is exactly what Jesus does for us. He forgives, restores, and invites us to keep going.
This project became far more than a book. It was a powerful experience of unity, Scripture, and community. As people engaged with God’s Word—many in ways they never had before—we witnessed that ministry doesn’t need to be flashy or performance-based. When we simply seek God together through His Word, mighty things can truly happen.
